5:40 pm on a Friday night and I was back at school after going home for an hour and a half. Winter Wonderland was about to begin at 6 pm and I needed to grab all the crafty type stuff from my classroom.
What was my grade level selling? An experience... Seriously though... It was an experience. We were the only craft station set up.
Now picture this... I am not alone as I walk in the dark to my little portable. I have my 3 boys with me. My 2 oldest are arguing about who gets to push my toddler in his stroller (which he isn't happy about riding in). I get to the classroom to grab my rolling cart with the supplies loaded on and we trudge on across campus to the gym.
We drop off the supplies at the grade level table and head to the staff room (3 boys and stroller) to grab a gigantic piece of red butcher paper to use as our tablecloth.
Our supplies? A 100 pack of white 4 inch tiles from Home Depot, a box of colored sharpies, a Costco pack of white tissue paper, a package of brown paper bags, and a pencil box to use as a cash box.
It was a simple project but the kiddos loved it. We bought the tiles at 16 cents a piece, and sold them for $2. We made money for our field trip and for enrichment. The kiddos made gifts for their relatives and gifts for themselves.
We didn't really have to do anything. Not like last year when I came home wearing so many shades of glitter. We just watched kids decorate tiles, and wrapped them up for safe traveling.
It was a good night.
My husband did meet us there to take the boys around to the different tables. My toddler fell asleep - a very late nap - and we had to wake him up when it was time to visit Mr and Mrs Claus. They were visiting from the North Pole and made the trip to take pictures in our library. My 1st grader who is terribly stage shy decided at the last minute to get up on stage with his class to perform/sing to Jingle Bell Rock, and I was glad that my phone camera was in my pocket so I could record the moment. Yes, a good night, an exhausting night, a money maker of a night, a memory filled night.

We made it to factors!! Chapter 12 - we are halfway through the textbook!!! Can you sense my excitement?!?
For factors, since it always falls right before Christmas, my class creates Factor Trees. I have them draw a star, write the number in it, then draw a tree underneath. They write the factors in the tree (circling them to create ornaments), and then label the trunk either composite or prime. Today's lesson was identifying the number as either prime or composite. They had fun!!
Tomorrow we will find the prime factors of a number. To have some fun with it, the students will be using the handy dandy dice to roll a number and then find the factors of that number. I created the above worksheet to help them out (it's free if you want it). I know they are capable of creating their own trees, but they have been drawing them super tiny on their whiteboards, and I want them to be decent size to hang up. It's all about decorating the classroom for the upcoming holidays!

This past month has been BUSY! I know we are all basically at the same point - too much to do and not enough time to get it done between now and then... So, as I was scrambling to figure out what I wanted to share with you all today for Monday Made It, I kept seeing projects at home and school that I have accomplished over the past month. I'm going to keep it to mainly pictures (since isn't that why we mainly click on each other's blogs in Tara's fun linky anyhow?)
I made clutter disappear by cleaning out closets at home and at school. (Yeah, not showing a picture of my pantry, closet, or rolling cart... I promise it is clean.)
I made my student gifts for my kiddos. I know they won't get the point of the "brown paper packages tied up with string..." but at least it makes me happy to know those are a few of my favorite things. :)
I made a bunch of centers and activities for my class by buying a bunch of stuff from talented teachers on Cyber Monday and downloading from TPT, then laminating a ton!
I made my own store at TPT since I want to be one of those talented teachers.
I love to make Ricotta Cookies (family recipe). It makes my husband and kids happy. Of course we ate them all before I had a chance to take a picture.
I made my house all decorated for Christmas.
Finally, I made myself read a book before bed every night for the past month and my stress levels have gone down!

When it's raining outside I become a slacker. I want my sweatpants, a cup of hot tea, and my Kindle or a Lifetime/ABC Family Christmas movie. Instead, I am in damp pants from running in from church, gazing at the piles of to do lists that need to somehow become accomplished before Once Upon a Time comes on tonight. It will get done... somehow...
In other news - I know the past 3 weeks I've done my 3, 2, 1 on Sundays - but I'm really not in the talkative mood today. I did accomplish my goals this past week - that's a good thing, right?
