Currently August

Posted on 13:05 by Unknown

Hi everyone!  I'm linking up with Farley today for August Currently.  It's pretty much all self explanatory - and I seriously need that shower... but of course I wanted to link up before I get to running around again crazy like.

Went to school again this morning - logged another 3 1/2 hours... total so far this week is 15.5 at school.  Almost done...  still more to do though.  I brought my oldest 2 with me this morning and they were helpers - for the most part.  :)  At least now they pretty much understand the drill  - do what mommy says and stay out of her way when she's running around the classroom.

I forgot to take pictures though, so you'll see what I did tomorrow.

Okay, okay - better get going!  Talk more later.  :)

Monday Made It and Giveaway Winner

Posted on 07:31 by Unknown

It's Monday! Linking up with Tara to show what I've been up to lately...

This past week was filled with shopping and painting.  Michaels had a ton of wood things in their clearance aisle, and I thought they would be perfect in my classroom.  Today I wanted to show you this frame I picked up.  Usually it's $8, but I got it for $2.  Love the clearance and the teacher discount!

Step 1 was drawing the lines with every scallop, step 2 was making sure that the pattern wasn't going to get messed up with the ABAB pattern going on, and step 3 was painting it the same colors as my bird houses and bird table numbers and my new magnet numbers.

Then I added some fun scrapbook paper inside.  I have this thing with post it notes.  I usually end up sticking them all over my desk with my to do list on them, and then I stick books & papers on top, and lose track of it all - so I decided that next year I'm going to stick this frame on my desk and put the written on post it notes on that.  It will be vertical, it's cute, and I'm excited about it!

I also sat down to start rereading my classroom read alouds, and decided to tackle The Chocolate Touch first (I was having a chocolate moment).  I wanted my kids to have to use their higher level thinking skills, so I came up with 48 activity cards based on Marzano and added some journal type pages in there as well.

It's over in my TPT store if you want it.  :)

and now for the drum roll please... the winner of $10 in my store is...

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Hope you have a great day!  On the agenda today is avoiding the heat as much as possible.  Costco this morning, and then hiding in the house for the afternoon.  We are also trying to grow crystals in our kitchen - it was one of those science experiments I found at the dollar store - and so far it's not working!  Have a great day!

Currently (almost) July

Posted on 10:59 by Unknown
I already blogged this morning.  Well, actually I didn't blog - I more linked up over at Kristin and Elizabeth's Organization linky.  Then I went, responded to email (and cleaned out my email box), and then had breakfast & washed the dishes.

I came back to the computer only to find out that Farley  posted Currently EARLY!  I know I follow her on Facebook, and I guess she mentioned it over there, but I guess I haven't been on FB lately.  Oh well!!

So here you go.  My July Currently.  :)

My boys are happily playing for the moment, I'm enjoying having a PJ morning, and yes - my living room is covered with toys - BUT they are playing happily.

I would love to go shopping by myself one of these days... being the one that's home with the boys doesn't allow me to go very many places by myself during the summer.  I even have to lock the bathroom door to get a moment of privacy from my 3 year old.

I want to do something fun.  I need to get something on the calendar for July - a day trip or something to look forward to.

As for a blogging tip - I've learned not to compare myself to others.  I'm me and I'm glad I'm me.  Yes, even without comparing myself to others, sometimes I get stuck on the fact that I'm SO CLOSE to 500 followers...and that will most likely be going away on Monday... but there are more important things in life than a number. :)  I've met some great people, I've been able to have these amazing opportunities, and I still love being a teacher.  I'm thankful for all your support.  :)

Have a great day!

Currently

Posted on 16:44 by Unknown
Hi everyone!  I'm linking up today with Megan over at Oh Boy Fourth Grade to share my currently for May.

Yeah - it's pretty much self explanatory...  My birthday is on May 8th and hubby took the boys out to find the perfect gift.  He's shopping blind though, since even I haven't been able to give him a list of what I really want.  It doesn't really feel like my birthday, at least not yet.  Next week, I'll bring in a treat to share with my class - usually doughnuts, and we make it a breakfast party.  It's also teacher appreciation you know... so it's a fun week all around.

I'm loving that testing is finally over.  This was my second year of being a testing coordinator (there are 4 of us at my school), so I have had the honor of helping to count 800 answer documents and 1,200 testing booklets many many times over the past 3 days.  The past 3 weeks I have been busy almost everyday after school checking the books back into our "secure location".  Oh the joy!  I would do a little dance if I wasn't so brain fried.  I can just start to imagine what my classroom will look like when I actually have time to work in it after school.  :)

Open House is next week - one week from today - and the minute I think I'm okay with projects and walls, then I start to rethink everything.  Like the Braille names that my students made yesterday - I have put them up in 2 different locations, and I don't like them there.... thinking that they might just end up on their desks...

Dinner - who needs dinner?  I'm too tired to cook - but I guess we can't go out again this week...  After the 2 hour counting fiesta on Tuesday I talked my hubby into it, then last night after another 2 hour counting hubby made dinner... and tonight - well could we have cereal?  That's nutritious, right?  All those vitamins?

I need to go shopping - but that would require actually having a moment to go...

As for my bucket list - yes, in a month I will be heading to Alaska with my husband's side of the family.  I'm so looking forward to it, though I'm not looking forward to having to bring a bunch of diapers with my littlest one.  He just doesn't have it down pat yet...

Hope you had a great day!

Superbowl, Super Sale, Super Hair Cut, Super Exhausted, and Currently!!

Posted on 18:22 by Unknown

It's been a big day.  This morning our church celebrated their 9th birthday/anniversary.  It was the first of many Superbowl parties... everyone in their jerseys, popcorn and cookies after service, it was great.

Then we headed to my parents house for lunch with my cousin... she is a traveling nurse and is stationed at present in our area.  She's a hoot to talk to!

Then we got home with enough time to turn on the game on our own TV.  I think it's funny how my little boys are so into the game... well mainly into the game... they took a break to go play legos for a while too.

I've been filling my cart over at TPT, haven't done the official check out yet, but I have loved hearing the TPT app on my phone go "cha-ching" many times today.  Thank you for your purchases!

I did take a moment before the game started to head to get my hair cut.

It was a major cut - 11 inches.  A year ago I made the New Years Resolution that I wanted to grow my hair out for Locks of Love.  I've never done it before, and it has been important to me.  Over the past year my hair has driven me nuts - it's been curly and crazy and gets tangled by little fingers.  I guess bittersweet is the emotion I felt having the lady chop it off.  I did have tears well up as she cut it off and I have to say that I did close my eyes.

But it was worth it.  I know it's worth it... it's just so short!

All in all - I came home, took a shower to get rid of all the extra hair floating all over, and then promptly fell asleep for a nice nap.  I never sleep during the day, so hopefully I can sleep tonight.  Then I woke up to a power outage and my husband going slightly ballistic over the game.

Okay - here's my Currently.
I'll be number 593 on Farley's list if you are looking for me...

Pretty much self explanatory... I throw a hissy fit if someone dares to use the pencil sharpener when someone is talking or when someone else decides to talk when we are supposed to be listening.

I think it's time to go check out... wish me luck!
