So last night my husband and I were updating our Amazon wish lists, getting ready for some serious shopping. I absolutely love all the deals out there - have already gone online shopping over at Kohls, Target, Amazon, Toys R Us, Shutterfly, and Snapfish. I was given the option of a free trial to Amazon Prime - here comes 2 day shipping!
I started thinking of all the things that I want to buy over at TPT during the big sale… more activities, more clip art, frames, etc... there is a problem though… I'll be "stuck" in a staff meeting until late on Monday. So I'll most likely start to shop this coming weekend. I usually break up my purchases into a couple of transactions, I buy my larger purchases early on, look them over, give feedback, and then use credits during my 2nd (or 3rd) transaction to bring the cost down.
So, hopefully this will help others out by opening up my sale all weekend long. Yep, you read that right - starting Black Friday everything will be 20% off until Tuesday evening. If you are going shopping on Monday or Tuesday, remember to use the code: CYBER. It will save you an extra 10%.
Okay, time to go get out the Christmas decorations, go shopping, and then the refrigerator repair man is coming over… Let's hope we don't need to get a new one of those!

What kind of editing system do you use in your classroom?
Right now I am going back and forth between a lot of items. I want to make the best decisions for my class. I really want to find a Christmas Around the World pack, or some type of unit that allows my students to have some fun while learning about how different countries celebrate.
There isn't a doubt in my mind though that I really want to purchase this pack.

I really want it because it has tons of activities that revolve around gingerbread - the history behind it, a recipe, and a bunch of comprehension activities. Every year I bring in gingerbread cookies for my students, so this could easily become my lessons plans for a special gingerbread day of school that last week before vacation.
I also have the Magnet Interactive Notebook from Jessica Scott @ I {Heart} Recess on my wish list. I have her Rocks and Minerals Interactive Notebook and it's been a wonderful tool that works. I want to get this Magnet one prepped for our next unit. She does have a bunch of other interactive notebooks too!

Hi everyone! I'm home today getting more projects done and having a PJ day with my boys. I've already tackled updating my Hall Pass Magnetic Board, hot glued colored laminated paper onto clothespins, and taped on the birthday dicuts to my pencils. I've posted a picture over on Instagram of the magnetic board if you are interested to see how it turned out.

Hi everyone! I hope you had a good day. :)
I've spent a good portion of the morning hopping on the computer at random times to try to weave my way through all the Monday Made Its. It's amazing how many different projects people come up with. So many creative people out there! I pinned a bunch of things that I want to remember over on Pinterest. Maybe there is a project over there that caught your eye too. I've also been spending some time ogling pictures over on Instagram. Yeah, lots of bloggers have been posting their craftivities and purchases over there (in addition to their Made Its - search for #mondaymadeit)... which is making me want to go shopping (again).
Yesterday was a really BIG day for the blog. We hit 500 followers through Google Friend Connect AND 500 likes on our Facebook page. ALL IN ONE DAY!!! I really appreciate your support and encouragement with this whole adventure of mine. :)
To celebrate I want to do something special. Anyone want to help me out? Just email me at ilovemyclassroom@ymail.com or leave a comment below. If you leave a comment please make sure that your email is set up to receive a reply from me (or leave your email). It might take a little bit of time to set this up... but it's summer and I have nothing big going on at the moment.

Last January for celebrating the 100th day of school I brought in one hundred Hershey Kisses. We were at the math lesson where we needed to compare and order fractions, so I wrote the fractions 1/1 to 1/100 on the bottom of all the kisses and then hid them around the classroom during prep.
When the kids came back they had to find all the kisses throughout the classroom. Each student was responsible for finding 3 chocolates, the extras we found together. They kept the chocolate on top of their desks (with the directions of NOT eating them), and we started to organize them on the whiteboard marker rack. We started off pretty simple - who had 1/1 and who had 1/100. We put them on opposite sides of the board. Then the kids started to come up and place the labeled chocolates in the correct places of our make shift number line - ordering and comparing as we went along. Once everyone worked together I went through and did the final check. It was a great activity and the kiddos really took responsibility for putting their fractions in the correct place.
I wanted to have that same fun with using different types of numbers, but without the need for chocolate temptations every time, so I made up this number bundle. It comes with whole numbers, negative numbers, fractions, and decimals. It's over at TPT if you are interested!
